Owner and primary craftsman, Charlie founded Magpie Furniture in 1986.

Furniture can deteriorate over time or be built to increase in beauty and value as it ages. Charlie Thomas has been building custom furniture in Jackson Hole since 1986 with dedication to enduring quality. We believe there's no more sustainable business practice than to make a product that will never be thrown away. Together with our customers, we design timeless furniture built to last for generations.

Magpie furniture began in1986 when a PhD candidate asked Charlie to build a 10 foot tall chair for observing the social behavior of ground squirrels. Although the clientele has changed significantly, the need for custom furniture persists. While we are primarily a wood shop, many of our projects incorporate other materials, such as metal and upholstery.

Located in the picturesque mountain town of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Magpie is constantly inspired by the natural world. We focus on simple elegant designs that emphasize the natural beauty of the materials that we use.

The name Magpie Furniture was inspired by the place we live, Magpie Acres. These beautiful resilient birds are clever and resourceful, everything a small business needs to be to succeed.
